A Highland Warrior and Her Safari Winner
>> Monday, October 31, 2011
It's October 31st today (thank you iCalendar) and that means the occurrence of two important events.
First off, we have a winner! Comments left on the last post were entered into a random drawing. The winner will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card. Let's all sniff the imaginary aroma of strong coffee, delish pastries and the innumerable flavourings our local Bux offers. I'll wait... you inhale. Deeply.
OK, now for the winner.
JOOOOOOOOOOOOANNNNE!!!!
Yay! Thanks to all of the commenters. And special thanks to author Lisa Mikitarian for being so "flippant" (her word via FB) with her answers. Question - does that mean she was full of beans??? That she didn't meet Ashley Olsen and she won't visit Canada someday soon??? Humph.
Her Safari makes an ideal Christmas gift, dudes. Get a few copies and pass them out. I'm thinking my kids' teachers will adore a copy... along with some chocolate, of course.
On another note entirely, it's also Halloween. Whatever your views on this sort-of-a-holiday, I'm excited about it this year. Perhaps because my beloved hubster decided to dress up for the occasion. Please note, he is NOT a man given to costumes. He's an engineer - straight laced, super smart and certainly not prone to drama. However the generous folks at Stantec Consulting were offering a $50 prize for the best costume this year.
He went as a Highland Warrior. Authentic Scottish kilt, people, from MacGregor & Macduff in Glasgow. And there's a (plastic) sgian dubh in his sock. That's a knife thingie for you non-Scottish-fanatics. Dead sexy.
AND he grew his stubble for three days (not that you can tell from this pic). Hairy and scary.
Even if he doesn't win the $50, he's a knock out in my books.
Congrats to Jo (or should we say Marc?) and thanks for reading. Apparently Biff Spiffy is willing to do an interview for us... Very. Cool. Looking forward to that. We also have another big book debut coming at the end of the week and more in store for Thistle readers. Bring your hot beverage and we'll chat.
In Love With a Pseudo-Highlander,

Yay Jo! (and Marc). Congrats, and enjoy!
My hubby doesn't dress up anymore either. And $60 would NOT be enough incentive to wear a kilt. :) (We did go to a party as a cave man and woman in our younger years tho.)
Ya gotta try for $50, right!!?!?!
Found you through Lynda's blog. Have a great week! :O)
I won AGAIN!! Marc will be thrilled. We JUST got our last winning gift card in the mail today ;)
Hubby dressed as a pirate, as always. Annika was a lion and Andrew a graduate.
And I like that hubby's costume! :D
Congrats, Jo!
Di, your Highland Warrior is quite the HUNK! Is hunk the correct expression these days? :)
Di, thank you for making this stop on the blog tour delightful and fun! Hugs!
